The new version of deviantart is such absolute trash its phenomenal.
Its far worse than I ever expected. The adolescent monkeys running it
have destroyed any semblance of functionality. I can’t find my art, or
other people’s art, or the art in my group, or any submissions to it.
Its phenomenal!
And its not just me, the feedback they've been getting has been overwhelmingly negative. It was a good thing for me for a while. And for a lot of people. A social media that let me connect with other artists and share beautiful art and encouragement, so its sad to see it go.
So basically all I'm saying is I'm not active on there and won't be for the foreseeable future. The only places I have left to share my art are here, and tumblr:

DA is Trash!

Why Deviantart sucks
You can switch back and forth right now, but they’re getting rid of the old version on around May 20th.
These are both screenshots of the first thing you see if you go to my channel on deviantart.
In the old version I had my artwork on the left, and my profile on the right, (even though I didn’t really say anything). The default was more cluttered but at least it was sort of customizeable.
In the new version, on the other hand... I haven’t really spent much time with it yet, but ah... doesn’t it seem like a lot of blank space? I see a lot of data which is probably very important to them because all they care about is getting people to click on adds, but not so much art, and yes I know I can upload a cover image but that’s only one picture. Good for advertisers. Not very good for artists.
So that’s my first impression. I hope I’m wrong but the new site seems like garbage. The feedback they’ve been getting is all negative so I don’t think I’m the only person who feels this way.
Anyway I hope you had fun listening to me rant about something other than youtube for a change.
PS. I know the layout is probably the least of the reasons that DA sucks, because of all the obscenity, and ads if you don’t have adblocker, but I’m really just talking about the technical side of it today.
PPS. Here’s the link to my deviantart channel in case you’re interested. (Even after all I’ve said about how much DA sucks).

PPPS. Blogger is another dumpster fire, I'm having trouble getting the paragraphs where I want them, so please ignore any errors, they are not my own.

2017 Year In Review
So apparently I did a lot of art this year. Here's a video I did that's a slideshow of all the art I came out with in 2017:
The music is Never Give Up On Your Dreams by Two Steps From Hell, with whom I do not claim to be affiliated in any way.
The pictures are all the artwork I uploaded to deviantart, in 2017, in chronological order:
https://jpmorrow.deviantart.com/gallery/
Its been a good year for me in terms of art, and I'm going to continue making more and better artwork next year.
Thank you all for your support!

Deviantart Group
I can't believe I never linked to this before
Ornamentation
This is a group on deviantart that I started and sort of manage but the artwork is (almost) entirely by other people.
And there's lots of wonderful art there so go and check it out.

Representational Art and Artists that I really like!
Where to begin?
So I follow a ton of artists on deviantart (a social media community based around creating and sharing art) and a ton of them do representational art that I find really beautiful.
Last June I put up some of it on my art tumblr, (tumblr is a social media platform not based around anything in particular,) and here is a link to that month in the archive to give you some idea:
http://jpmorrow.tumblr.com/archive/2016/6
Because I try (and fail) to keep track of these artists I compiled a list with links to all of them, also on my art blog:
http://jpmorrow.tumblr.com/post/155453576652/linkdump-of-a-ton-of-artists-i-follow-on
This list is of artists that I follow that do representational sorts of artwork, and sadly does not include artists that specialize in photography, decorative arts, sculpture, crafts and all the other wonderful kinds of art. Maybe I will make linkdumps for them too if I ever have the time.
It is not a complete list by any means but I wanted to share the wonderfulness and help support artists around the world.

Updates
At one point I said I wasn't selling my prints on my DeviantArt any more. I am now selling them on my Etsy store instead. Because you have to pay to list products on Etsy I will not have all of my artwork on there, but feel free to leave a comment or message either on Etsy or DeviantArt if you are interested in purchasing anything.
Thank You!
Thank You!
