Celtic Squirrel Tree

I was starting to get behind but now I'm almost back on schedule for designs for my next coloring book.  Actually I'm quite pleased with how its coming along.

Another Knot

This is actually an adaptation from a design that I did for fabric and wallpaper on my spoonflower store:

https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/jpmorrow

I would link to the individual design but spoonflower is broken today... like so many things in life.

Squiggle With Bird And Snake

Another design.  I did the math and every design I finish takes me another 1/32nd or 3.125% of the way to having enough designs for the next coloring book.  So I'm already at 6.25%, yay!

Celtic Spirally Circle

Here's another one, only two more to go before I can publish my next coloring book! 😃

Of course I still need to work on the cover and layouty stuff, so it'll be a few months.  I'm planning on publishing it sometime this year though.

Also here's a link to my first coloring book for anyone who may be interested:

Celtic Oak Tree

I like the owl in the middle.  If the ancient Celts had thought of it they would've put little owls on everything! ^_^

Celtic Gears

This one took me a while, of course.  Someday I want to make an entire coloring book that's all constellations of floating gears with designs on them.  I think that would be cool.

Just Another Knot

Just a knot this time, not even any zoomorphs.  Sometimes you got to have some nice simple ones in between all the complex ones.

Three Snakes

I did another Celtic Knot!  This one is loosely inspired by an M. C. Escher woodcut, (shown below), which happened to be the last design he did before he died.

I get all that from a big book of M. C. Escher’s artwork I’ve got called Impossible Worlds: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/998629.Impossible_Worlds

You can see that I didn’t finish my work to quite as many iterations of infinity as Escher, and it doesn’t have quite the level of craftsmanship, but still I’m always pretty happy when I finish another knot!

What I've Been Working On

So I found this at the side of the road last year sometime...

...And I recently started sanding it.

You see, I'm thinking of enhancing it a little, with a little woodcarving, maybe woodburn some patterns into it.  This is just a fun project I'm working on, I don't know what its for or what I'll do with it when its done.

Anyway, I still don't have nearly as much time to work on art projects as I'd like and I've got some pretty severe writers block with the story I'm working on but I won't let that stop me.

All the best,

JP

Acanthus Leaves

I'm learning to draw acanthus leaves!  This is the first illustration of my second coloring book which will be pictures of acanthus ornament.
